INTRODUCTION

Caucus on  Disability Rights Advocacy(CDRA) is a loose coalition of Non-State Actors in the disability sector.It is a coalition of  organizations of and for persons with disabilities.CDRA seeks to promote the interests of persons with disabilities under the constitution of Kenya and the law.Its secretariat is hosted by the United Disabled Persons of Kenya(UDPK).

OBJECTIVES

The main objectives of the CDRA includes:

  • To promote the interests of persons with disabilities under the constitution of Kenya and the law.
  • Engaging in researching and studies to ensure rights of persons with disabilities are promoted and protected in all laws in Kenya.

ACTIVITIES

CDRA has been engaged in various activities revolving around developing policy and law memorandums and recommendations concerning issues of persons with disabilities.Some of the briefs include:

  • Memorandum on the constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill 2010
  • Memorandum to the Building Bridges to unit advisory Task Force(2019 draft)
  • Memorandum to the Building Bridges to unit advisory Task Force(2020 draft)
  • Memorandum to the Senate to Pandemic Response Management Bill(2020)
  • Recommendation to National Emergency response committee on Disability-Inclusive Response to COVID-19 pandemic.
